Jarrod Pughsley

School: Akron
Position: G
Positive: Two-year starter who's lined up at both guard and tackle. Strong lineman effective as both a run blocker and in pass protection. Stays square, controls opponents once engaged in a block, and turns them from the action. Keeps his head on a swivel, shows good recognition, and effectively gets a pad on blitzers to knock them from their angle. Plays with good lean, has a thick lower body, and explosive at the point of attack. Natural knee bender and gets leverage on opponents. Nasty and stays with assignments. Better than average footwork in pass protection. Flashes the ability blocking in motion on the second level.
Negative: Lacks great balance. Better in a small area. Bends at the waist, which hurts his ability to finish blocks.
Analysis: Pughsley is an underrated blocking prospect with solid size. He does not possess top upside but has the ability and versatility to be an inexpensive backup at several offensive line positions.
