Carlos Gray

School: North Carolina State
Position: DT
Positive: Moved into the starting role last season and totaled 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, as well as 2.5 sacks. Somewhat athletic defensive line prospect who could be used at the 3-technique. Fires off the snap, displays good movement skills, and easily changes direction. Slides down the line in pursuit of the action and shows a solid closing burst of speed. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself, and is tough to move off the point. Clogs the middle and commands double-team blocks.
Negative: Started only one season in college and was moderately productive. Limited as a pass rusher.
Analysis: Gray showed flashes of ability last season but was premature in his decision to enter the draft, though he had few options. He shows a lot of inconsistency, which will make it difficult for him to be anything other than a practice squad player in 2014.
