Bennett Jackson

School: Notre Dame
Position: CB
Positive: Two-year starter at cornerback and a record-setting kick returner at Notre Dame. Senior totals included 64 tackles and a 25.2-yard average on 31 kick returns. Instinctive cornerback whose greatest asset is his return skill. Shows good awareness of assignments, stays step-for-step with opponents across the field, and quickly locates the pass in the air. Fights hard to defend throws, has a burst to the ball, and displays good closing speed. Solid open-field tackler. Terrific kick returner who sets up blocks, sees the field, and finds the running lanes.
Negative: Struggles in downfield coverage. Minimally effective in bump-and-run situations. Does not get his head back around to locate the pass in the air and struggles making plays with his back to the ball.
Analysis: Jackson projects as a nickel/dime back at the next level and would be most effective backed off the line of scrimmage. His bread and butter in the NFL will be on special teams player.
