Marcus Davis

School: Virginia Tech
Position: WR
Bio: Starter at Virginia Tech for much of the past two seasons. Posted 51 receptions/953 yards/5 TDs as a senior after 30/510/5 the prior year.
Positive: Athletic receiver with outstanding size and speed. Quickly releases off the line, immediately gets to top speed, and beats defenders down the sidelines. Nicely adjusts to the throw running full speed. Looks passes into his hands and, for the most part, makes the catch away from his frame. Comes across the middle, gets up in a crowd, and boxes out defenders with his large body. Effective blocker and opens up running lanes down field.
Negative: Poor route runner, who shows limited sharpness and quickness into breaks. Inconsistent catching the ball and let's a lot of easy passes slip through his hands.
Analysis: Davis was highly rated by NFL scouts coming into the season, yet failed to elevate his game or meet expectations. He offers next level physical skills but must learn to do the little things well and play to his level of potential.
