Jason Thompson

School: New Haven
Position: WR
Bio: All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 44 receptions/881 yards/16 TDs, averaging 20 yards per reception. Started a single game the prior season but still finished with 43/1046/14, averaging 24.3 yards per catch.
Positive: Productive receiver with the ability to pick up big chunks of yardage from the line of scrimmage. Fluid, quickly releases off the line into pass routes, and lays out to make the difficult reception. Possesses good hand/eye coordination, displays nice timing and easily makes the catch in stride. Goes over the middle and exposes himself to big hits in order to come away with receptions.
Negative: Despite his per catch average, more of a one-speed receiver and lacks the second gear. Poor downfield blocker. Has a thin build and will struggle getting off jams at the next level.
Analysis: Thompson was very productive the past two seasons and showed terrific development. He does not possess classic measurables for the NFL but offers potential as a fifth/slot receiver in a West Coast offense.
