Matthew Thayer

School: Missouri State
Position: TE
Bio: Two-year starter who began his college career at Iowa Western. Senior totals included 38 receptions/294 yards/1 TD after 20/247/3 as a junior.
Positive: Hard-working tight end who gets the most from his talent. Bends his knees, blocks with good lean, and stays square. Works hard and plays until the whistle blows. Fluid getting into pass routes, easily adjusts to errant throws, and catches the ball with his hands. Effectively finds the open space in the defense and makes the reception in stride.
Negative: Limited speed and quickness. Marginal strength and struggles to finish blocks.
Analysis: Thayer was an all-purpose player Missouri State, lining up at tight end and as a lead blocker. He's a limited athlete with marginal speed for the NFL but could get consideration at fullback if he improves his playing strength.
