Matt Furstenburg

School: Maryland
Position: TE
Bio: Three-year starter who finished with 16 receptions/26 yards/2 TDs as a senior after career totals of 31/348/2 as a junior.
Positive: Relatively athletic tight end who showed a lot of inconsistency on the college field. Goes across the middle, gets vertical, and extends to pull the pass from the air. Possesses soft hands, makes the reception away from his frame, and displays better than average downfield speed. Bends his knees, plays with leverage and gives effort blocking.
Negative: Marginally productive on the college level and never showed much improvement. Average blocking strength and not a true downfield threat as a pass catcher. Terrific athlete yet an average football player.
Analysis: Furstenburg possesses the size and athletic skills to be a move tight end at the next level but must quickly produce in camp. He has the ability to develop into a third tight end and, at the very least, Furstenberg should find himself on a practice squad.
