Mark Popek

School: South Florida
Position: T
Bio: Full-time starter the past two seasons, between left tackle and left guard. All-Conference recipient as a senior despite missing three games with an ankle injury.
Positive: Big offensive tackle best in a small area. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage, and quickly gets off the snap. Effective with his hands: correctly places them into defenders, and stays square to keep opponents from the action. Strong and turns opponents from the gaps. Good footwork.
Negative: Does too much clutching and grasping of the opponent rather than blocking. Falls off blocks. Constantly off-balance and all too often ends up on the ground. Minimally effective blocking in motion.
Analysis: Popek has shown flashes of ability and possesses the physical skills to play at the next level, but must polish his game and learn to do the little things well on a consistent basis to have a career in the NFL.
