Luke Marquardt

School: Azusa Pacific
Position: T
Bio: Moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2010 and remained there the following season before missing the entire 2012 campaign with a foot injury.
Positive: Big, strong right tackle prospect with surprising athleticism. Possesses size, growth potential, and moves well. Displays solid footwork in pass protection, easily slides out off the edge, and keeps his feet moving on contact. Blocks with a wide base and quickly sets up off the snap. Immediately gets out to the second level blocking in motion. Shows the ability to adjust to oncoming blitzers or redirect to defenders on the move. Blocks with a nasty attitude, gets after assignments, and strong at the point of attack. Stays square and a solid position blocker who seals defenders from the action.
Negative: Not a great knee bender and will struggle getting leverage on opponents. Does not consistently keep his feet moving in pass protection. Bends at the waist and overextends in the blocks.
Analysis: Marquardt is a terrific prospect with a lot of upside. He's a developmental lineman comparable to Sebastian Vollmer and offers starting potential in the near future as he completes his game.
