Alex Hurst

School: LSU
Position: T
Bio: Started six games as a senior before leaving the team with personal issues. Starting right tackle during his sophomore and junior seasons at LSU, winning all-Conference honors in 2011.
Positive: Large, small area blocker whose NFL career is in flux. Works to bend his knees, sets with a wide base, and plays hard until the whistle blows. Effective with his hands. Makes good use of blocking angles as well as body positioning. Quickly gets into defenders and turns them from the action. Plays smart football.
Negative: Marginal skill blocking in motion and can E(TM)t redirect to linebackers on the second level. Lumbers around the field and not light on his feet. Plays really stiff.
Analysis: Hurst graded as draftable prospect coming off his terrific junior year but got off to a slow start as a senior then abruptly left the team. At the top of his game, he's a potential backup in the NFL but his professional career is now in doubt.
