Jordan Kovacs

School: Michigan
Position: S
Bio: Full-time starter the past three seasons after playing eight games with the first team as a freshman. All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 68 tackles, 1 interception, and 2 pass breakups. Junior totals included 75/1/1. Posted a career-best 116 tackles as a sophomore.
Positive: Fierce and instinctive run-defending safety best in a straight line. Keeps the action in front of him and displays a good head for the ball. Shows a burst of closing speed, squares into ballcarriers, and runs through tackles. Looks to intimidate opponents. Aggressive up the field defending the run or screen plays.
Negative: Possesses average ball skills and is too often a half step late arriving on the scene in coverage. Lacks great range in centerfield.
Analysis: Kovacs is a traditional strong safety who's best playing downhill between the numbers. He could add value to a zone system and on special teams.
