Eric Franklin

School: Maryland
Position: S
Bio: Two-year starter who posted 48 tackles and broke up six passes as a senior after junior totals of 106 tackles.
Positive: Forceful safety who displayed next level potential since his junior season. Keeps the action in front of him, intimidates opponents who come over the middle, and shows good awareness in coverage. Fast moving in every direction, easily gets outside the numbers, and displays good range in centerfield. Tough run defender who quickly makes his way up the field and squares into ballcarriers.
Negative: Not a consistent open field tackler. Lacks the great closing burst. Failed to meet expectations or elevate his game as a senior in 2012.
Analysis: Franklin looked like an NFL prospect off his junior film and possesses the size, tenacity, and underlying skill to make a roster as an eighth defensive back if he plays well in camp this summer.
