Don Jones

School: Arkansas State
Position: S
Bio: Two-year starter who totaled 74 tackles/1 interception/2 pass break-ups as a senior after totals of 54/1/3 the prior year.
Positive: Athletic defensive back who flashed ability but was ultimately inconsistent. Explosive, fast in every direction and easily gets outside the numbers to make plays. Agile, displays a burst to the action, and works well with teammates. Willing run defender who also sells out on the blitz. Occasionally lined up over the slot receiver. Mixes it up with opponents, working to defend the throw.
Negative: Late reacting to plays. Inefficient, takes too many steps to the action, and overpursues plays. Easily blocked by opponents.
Analysis: Jones is a talented defensive back with terrific size/speed numbers for the next level. He has a lot of upside and is worth stashing on a practice squad with the hopes for future development, though Jones must quickly elevate his game to have a career in the NFL.
