Cooper Taylor

School: Richmond
Position: S
Bio: Georgia Tech transfer who started the past two years. Awarded all-America and all-Conference honors as a senior. Totals last season included 78 tackles/4 interceptions/9 pass breakups after 63/1/3 the prior year.
Positive: Huge safety with good range in centerfield. Fluid, goes sideline to sideline, and gets outside the numbers to make plays. Effective run defender who immediately finds the ball carrier and wraps up when tackling. Keeps the action front of him, quick up the field and displays both closing and recovery speed. Remains disciplined and effectively diagnoses the action.
Negative: Slow out of his transition when turning to run with opponents and possesses marginal ball skills. Lacks a quick change of direction and lacks the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack.
Analysis: Taylor possesses next-level size and significantly improved his game last season. He's a prototypical strong safety candidate and will also get consideration in a zone defense. He'll be helped by his special-teams mentality.
