Marcus Lattimore

School: South Carolina
Position: RB
Bio: Totaled 143 carries/662 yards/11 TDs in nine games last season before tearing several ligaments in his right knee, which ended his season. Played in eight games as a sophomore in 2011 totaling 163 carries/818 yards/10 TDs before suffering a season-ending injury to his left knee. Totaled career ground numbers of 249 carries/1197 yards/17 TDs as a freshman when he also added 29 receptions/412 yards/2 TDs.
Positive: Patient, quick, and athletic runner whose career has been marred by injuries. Displays outstanding vision, running instincts, and overall awareness. Runs with good lean and keeps his feet moving on contact. Forceful, explosive, and shows the ability to pick up yardage off initial contact. Finds the cutback lanes, quickly gets through the hole, then turns it north-south to keep plays alive. Has a burst and solid playing speed. Solid receiver who nicely adjusts to errant throws and makes receptions in stride. Gives effort blocking, sees the blitz, and gets a pad on defenders.
Negative: Best running between the tackles. Really does not show the ability to elude defenders or even bounce around piles. Possesses more short-area quickness versus long-range speed. Coming off successive damaging knee injuries.
Analysis: After a brilliant freshman campaign, Lattimore was pegged as the next franchise running back to come from the SEC but major knee injuries in successive seasons has changed opinions. He's a downhill runner who does the little things well and should contribute at the next level if he's able to get back to prior playing form and remain healthy.
