Akeem Shavers

School: Purdue
Position: RB
Bio: Junior-college transfer who led Purdue in rushing last season, registering 181 carries/371 yards/6 TDs while also adding pass catching numbers of 18 receptions/370 yards/3 TDs. Junior totals included 111/519/6 on the ground.
Positive: Productive ballcarrier with an all-around game. Works runs, possesses the speed necessary to turn the corner, and has a burst, which he flips on in a single step. Sets up blocks and makes defenders miss in the open field. Keeps his feet moving on contact, runs with an aggressive style, and doesn E(TM)t go down without a fight. Solid pass catcher out of the backfield and displays skill running after the catch.
Negative: Not a big back and easily brought down at the point of attack by a single opponent. Struggles picking up yardage off initial contact.
Analysis: Shavers displayed steady improvement on the field the past two seasons and has the skills necessary to make a roster as a third-down back or as a situational runner.
