Tyler Wilson

School: Arkansas
Position: QB
Bio: Two-year starter who finished with 62.1%/3387 yards/21 TDs/13 Interceptions as a senior. All-Conference selection as a junior after passing for 3638 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Positive: Athletic, short-range passer best in a West Coast Offense. Patient in the pocket, buys time for receivers, and effectively reads the defense. On the same page as his receivers, goes through progressions, and finds the secondary target if the primary receiver is covered. Takes the safe underneath outlet if nothing is available, leaves the pocket as a last resort, and takes a big hit in order to get the pass away. Displays good zip on intermediate throws and shows the ability to get the ball through the tight windows. Possesses a quick release. Nimble, easily gets outside the pocket to make the throw on the move or picks up yardage with his legs when necessary. Puts the pass in front of receivers letting them run to the ball and shows solid accuracy. For the most part, stays away from mental mistakes.
Negative: Can E(TM)t drive the deep throw and not a vertical passer. Has a concussion history. Throws with a three-quarter delivery.
Analysis: Wilson did a terrific job taking over as the starter for Ryan Mallett in 2011 and is a high-percentage passer who stays away from mistakes. He offers starting potential as a West Coast or timing passer, though he's more of a game manager than franchise quarterback.
