Landry Jones

School: Oklahoma
Position: QB
Bio: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors as a senior after passing totals of 66.1%/4267 yards/30 TDs/11 INTs. Junior numbers included 63.2%/4463 yards/29/15. All-Conference selection as a sophomore after posting career numbers of 65.6%/4718/38/12.
Positive: Productive college quarterback with solid potential for the next level. Sells ball fakes, displays a nice sense of knowing where his receivers are on the field, and stands strong in the pocket. Takes a big hit in order to get the throw away and effectively commands the offense. Quickly sets up in the pocket and steps up to avoid the rush. Displays both accuracy and timing throwing out patterns. Possesses a good arm with the ability to power the ball through the tight windows. Also, puts touch on throws when necessary.
Negative: Inconsistent reading defenses and doesn E(TM)t do a good job finding the defensive backs. More often than not throws behind receivers or misses open targets, which results in lost opportunities for the offense. Struggles under the rush and makes poor choices when he must leave the pocket. Not an elusive passer who will scramble away from defenders.
Analysis: Many projected Jones as a top-10 selection after his sensational sophomore campaign, yet the Oklahoma quarterback has watched his game regress in many areas the past two seasons. He possesses the physical skills to start in the NFL, yet needs to be more consistent with his reads, decision-making and must stay away from mental mistakes.
