Ryan Allen

School: Louisiana Tech
Position: P
Bio: Oregon State transfer who started for three seasons at Louisiana Tech. All-America and all-Conference selection the past two seasons and winner of the 2011 Ray Guy Award. Averaged 48 yards on 45 punts with a long of 85 yards. Had 21 punts of 50 yards or longer. Junior numbers included an average of 46.3 yards on 78 punts with a long of 72 yards. Had 54 punts of 50 yards or longer the past three seasons without a single one being blocked.
Positive: Strong-legged, left-footed kicker with the ability to punt long distances. Quickly gets the ball off his foot, drives his punts across the field, and kicks his team out of jams. Displays the ability to place the ball inside the 10-yard line. Effective as a directional punter. Opponents have difficulty handing the left footed spin of his punts.
Negative: Struggles to get the ball quickly away under the rush. Gathers himself before getting the ball off his foot. Does not consistently get hang time on punts, which allows for returns.
Analysis: Allen is a big-legged punter who's been very consistent at Louisiana Tech the past two seasons. He needs to improve the technical aspects of his position but has the leg strength necessary to develop into a starter at the next level.
