David Gilbert

School: Wisconsin
Position: OLB
Bio: Full-time starter the past two seasons totaling 42 tackles/9.5 tackles for loss/4 sacks as a senior. Started the first four games of his junior season before suffering a foot injury, which put him on the sidelines for the rest of the year. Posted 10/3.5/3 during who campaign.
Positive: Undersized, yet athletic pass rusher who makes a lot of plays behind the line scrimmage. Quick off the snap, fast off the edge, and plays with good pad level. Swift collapsing down the line scrimmage in pursuit of the action and can be used in space on zone blitzes. Stays with the action and works hard.
Negative: Does not display a great closing burst. Undersized and easily handled at the point of attack by opponents.
Analysis: Gilbert was a solid college defender whose development was slowed by the foot injury of 2011. He has the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in the NFL and offers potential as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment.
