Perry McIntyre

School: Massachusetts
Position: ILB
Bio: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors as a senior after totals of 132 tackles/7.5 tackles for loss/3 sacks. Junior numbers included 116/11.5/6.5.
Positive: Productive run-defending linebacker best making plays in the box. Fires through the gaps up the field. Resilient and works to get involved in the action. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself, and slides off blocks to make plays. Physical and quickly locates the ballcarrier.
Negative: Slow flipping his hips to transition to run with opponents in coverage. Marginal ball skills and does a lot of face guarding. Ineffective in pursuit and possesses limited quickness. Easily blocked at the point of attack or gets caught up in the trash.
Analysis: McIntyre was a terrific run defender during his Massachusetts career yet really does not have the measurables for the next level. He plays with a special-teams mentality and could back up on the inside of a 3-4 alignment if he stands out on coverage units this summer.
