Nico Johnson

School: Alabama
Position: ILB
Bio: Full-time starter the past two seasons after seeing sporadic action with the first team as a sophomore. Senior totals included 55 tackles with two tackles for loss. Junior numbers included 47 tackles after 33 as a sophomore.
Positive: Instinctive two-down defender best making plays in the box. Quick up the field defending the run and has a burst to the action. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself. Tough to knock off his feet and keeps the action in front of him. Relatively instinctive and does not make mental mistakes.
Negative: Average pursuit speed chasing the action. Marginal skill in coverage.
Analysis: Johnson possesses the desired size/speed numbers and wherewithal to play at the next level but is a two-down defender who shows limitations on the field. He offers the potential to line up on the inside of a 3-4 alignment but must quickly elevate his game to have a career in the NFL.
