A.J. Hawkins

School: Mississippi
Position: G
Bio: Started at right guard as a senior after playing center the prior two years.
Positive: Fundamentally sound blocker who moves well on his feet. Bends his knees, stays square, and controls defenders at the point of attack. Quickly gets into blocks, consistently plays with leverage, and explosive at the point. Fluid if asked to pull across the line of scrimmage then get out front and block in motion. Gets his hands into opponents and fights throughout the action.
Negative: Doesn E(TM)t show the great lower body strength or get much movement as a run blocker. Marginally athletic.
Analysis: Hawkins is a wide-body blocker with the versatility to line up at guard or center. He shows enough movement skills to play in a zone-blocking system and should only improve as he physically matures and gets stronger.
