Josh Boyd

School: Mississippi State
Position: DT
Bio: Three-year starter who totaled 33 tackles/2.5 tackles for loss/1.5 sacks as a senior after 51/8/4.5 the prior year.
Positive: Athletic defensive line prospect who projects as a 3-technique tackle at the next level. Plays with good lean, bends his knees, and gets leverage on opponents. Easily moves about the field, agile for big man, and keeps his feet moving on contact. Slides laterally to get outside the box to chase the action or fires up the field filling gaps in run defense. Displays a closing burst and works hard to make plays.
Negative: Easily controlled at the point of attack in one-on-one blocking. Lacks great pursuit speed.
Analysis: Boyd was a consistent performer at Mississippi State and a defender who plays hard until the whistle. He lacks great size and strength but would do well on the inside of a four-man line in a one-gap defense.
