Chris Burnette

School: Old Dominion
Position: DT
Bio: Four-year starter at both nose guard and defensive tackle. All-Conference selection the past two years. Senior totals included 73 tackles/7 tackles for loss/4 sacks as well as one intercepted pass. Junior numbers included 49/8/3.5.
Positive: Explosive defensive tackle with good movement skills. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, plays with leverage and good pad level. Quickly changes direction and shows the ability to pursue the action laterally. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself. Deceptively strong and tough to move off the point. Clogs the middle of the field and plays hard until the whistle blows.
Negative: Lacks bulk on the inside and was rather easily handled in one-on-one blocking. Marginal closing burst. Not a pass-rushing threat.
Analysis: Burnette was a productive college defender who did a terrific job stopping the run. He lacks the measurables for the next level but could find a home on the inside of a four-man line if he produces on special teams.
