Bjoern Werner

School: Florida State
Position: DE
Bio: Two-year starter awarded all-America and all-Conference honors last season after totals of 42 tackles/15 tackles for loss/13 sacks as well as 8 pass defenses. Sophomore totals included 37/11/7.
Positive: Explosive college defensive end coming into his own. Displays terrific quickness off the snap, fluid moving in every direction, and plays with consistent knee bend. Easily changes direction, shows a burst moving laterally, and effective in space. Flashes power in his lower body, quickly gets his hands up, and effectively uses them to protect himself. Fast off the edge, easily chases the action laterally, and works hard. Plays with a high motor and works assignments.
Negative: Lacks bulk and out positioned by blockers. Must prove he's more than a first move lineman. Does not show great speed pursuing the action for any length of time.
Analysis: Werner is a game-impacting pass rusher who plays with a high motor and offers a large upside. He's displayed terrific development the past three years and will do well at defensive end in a 4-3 alignment.
