Shelton Johnson

School: Wisconsin
Position: CB
Bio: Two-year starter who posted 56 tackles and broke up 4 passes as a senior when he lined up at safety. Junior totals included 54 tackles, 4 interceptions and 4 pass breakups.
Positive: Versatile defensive back with solid ball skills. Keeps the action in front of him, effectively reads the quarterbacks eyes, and has a nice move to the throw. Shows an explosive burst to the ball out of his plant, nicely times pass defenses, and relatively instinctive. Shows good range in centerfield and easily gets outside the numbers to make plays. Squares and wraps up ballcarriers.
Negative: Does not consistently play physical football. Late reacting when the pass is in the air and did not show a good feel for coverage as a senior.
Analysis: Johnson has nice upside and possesses the size and skill to be used at cornerback or safety in the NFL.
