Branden Smith

School: Georgia
Position: CB
Bio: Part-time starter the past two seasons totaling 25 tackles and breaking up nine passes as a senior after 24 tackles and two interceptions during his junior campaign.
Positive: Underrated cornerback with a good feel in coverage. Keeps the action in front of him, plays with quickness, and battles hard to defend the throw. Nicely tracks the pass in the air, positions himself to make plays on the ball, and does not get beat in coverage. Displays skill in zone, remains disciplined with assignments, and shows a nice burst to the pass out of his plant. Works hard to get off blocks and make plays up the field against the run.
Negative: Lacks the quick, smooth backpedal. Overmatched by larger receivers.
Analysis: Smith possesses the size and speed to be a dime back in zone coverage or backed off the line of scrimmage. He also plays like a special teams player, which adds to his value at the next level.
