Barrett Jones

School: Alabama
Position: C
Bio: Four-year starter who began his career at right guard as a freshman, then moved to eft tackle as a junior, before settling at the center position last year. All-Conference election since his sophomore season and named to numerous all-America teams the past two years. warded the 2012 Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center. He was also the Outland Trophy Winner in 2012 as well as being awarded the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given to the top offensive lineman in the SEC.
Positive: Smart, tough prospect with a versatile game. Fundamentally sound, uses excellent body positioning, and seals opponents from the play. Keeps his head on a swivel, plays intelligent football, and has a great feel for what's happening. Plays with good knee bend, quickly gets his hands into opponents, and immediately gets into blocks. Effective with shotgun snaps. Stays square and keeps opponents in front of him. Effectively quarterbacks the offensive line and calls the signals.
Negative: Lacks top footwork and lateral blocking range at left tackle. Does not possess dominant lower body strength and struggles to finish blocks. Suffered a foot injury during the late part of his senior season.
Analysis: Jones is a terrific offensive line prospect who can play any of the three interior blocking positions and even help out at left tackle if necessary. He has a great understanding of blocking and consistently plays smart, tough football. Jones is not the greatest athlete, but has the skills necessary to start at the next level for a decade if he remains injury-free.
