Tyron Carrier

School: Houston
Position: WR
Bio: Four-year starter awarded all-conference honors after his sophomore and senior seasons. Named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year in 2011. Led Houston in receiving last season with 96 receptions/958 yards/5 TDs and also averaged 25.2 yards on 30 kick returns with another score. Junior receiving numbers included 53/480/1 with a 23.5 yard average on 50 kick returns and another score. Totaled 91/1029/7 receiving as a sophomore and 80/1026/9 as a freshman.
Positive: Small yet explosive skill player who E(TM)s a threat to take it the distance any time the ball's in his hands. Displays exceptional quickness and elusiveness and has the ability to create yardage. Quickly releases off the line and is a sharp route runner who separates from defenders into breaks and comes back to the ball on exit. Throws double moves on defenders, quickly changes direction and loses no momentum. Possesses great concentration and makes tough catches in traffic. Plays bigger than his listed size, stays with the action and has a burst of speed. Dynamic return specialist who does a terrific job setting up returns, finds the running lanes and altering the momentum of games with big plays.
Negative: Struggles handling jams at the line of scrimmage and easily knocked off balance. Outmatched by larger defenders. Short and gets lost on the field, becoming a difficult target for the quarterback to see.
Analysis: Carrier is dismissed in some scouting circles, but he's a dynamic player with a well-rounded game. Size is a limiting factor, but he could be a lethal slot receiver and game-changing return specialist at the next level if given an opportunity.
