Phillip Payne

School: UNLV
Position: WR
Bio: Four-year starter who led UNLV in receiving the past two years. Senior totals included 44 receptions/509 yards/7 TDs after he had 40/689/5 as a junior. Sophomore totals included 58/661/7.
Positive: Productive college wideout with nice size. Sells routes, quickly gets into breaks and easily adjusts to the errant throw. Extends his hands and offers the quarterback a nice target. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and protect the pass. Keeps the play inbounds running after the reception. Gets results blocking downfield when he gives effort.
Negative: Lacks a quick release off the line, displays a minimal burst and is a one-speed receiver. Not much of a threat running after the reception. Unnecessarily lets the pass get inside him at times.
Analysis: Payne was the top receiving threat for UNLV, yet never elevated his game. He's flashed skill the past three seasons but must consistently play at a high level to make an NFL roster.
