Justin Blackmon

School: Oklahoma State
Position: WR
Bio: Two-year starter awarded All-America and all-conference honors since his sophomore season. Junior totals included 122 catches/1,522 yards/18 TDs. Posted 111/1782/20 as a sophomore and was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and given the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver.
Positive: Physical, reliable pass catcher with outstanding size and ability. Instinctive and plays smart football. Fluid and smooth in all his actions. Plays with terrific balance and body control and easily adjusts backward or gets vertical to make catches. Comes back to the ball out of pass routes, extends his hands and offers the quarterback a big target. Lays out and extends to make the difficult reception with defenders draped on him. Looks the ball into his hands and displays both soft and strong hands with the ability to pull the pass from the air. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and consistently wins out in battles. Effective blocking downfield.
Negative: One-speed receiver who lacks a burst and is not a vertical threat. Marginally effective running after the reception. Occasionally takes his eyes off the ball, which results in drops or double catching. Displayed good route running skills at the combine yet during his college career showed minimal quickness and sharpness into breaks.
Analysis: Blackmon is a tremendous pass-catching target in the mold of former All-Pro receiver Terrell Owens. He's a big target who battles to make the reception and has the physical skills necessary to consistently come away with the ball. Blackmon will be an effective red zone target and a top third-down receiver. He offers immediate starting potential.
