Joe Adams

School: Arkansas
Position: WR
Bio: All-American, All-conference and ACC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2011 when he became a full-time starter. Totals last year included 49 receptions/630 yards/3 touchdowns as a receiver, with an average of 16.2 yards on 16 punt returns and three more scores. Junior receiving totals included 50/313/6, with an average of 15.6 yards returning punts. Part-time starter during his sophomore and junior campaigns.
Positive: Explosive, game-breaking skill player who beats defenders as a receiver and punt returner. Quickly releases off the line, displays a burst of speed and is explosive. Gets up in a crowd, extends and exposes himself to the big hit. Adjusts to make difficult catches. Quickly transitions from making the catch to running after the reception. Keeps the play in bounds, effectively uses blocks and is dangerous running after the catch and returning punts. Strong for his size, displaying the ability to keep his feet after the initial hit. Solid route runner who quickly gets into breaks and separates from defenders on exit.
Negative: Drops some catchable throws and does not show consistently soft hands. Undersized and gets out-positioned battling for the ball. Did not time well in the 40 at the combine or during his pro day.
Analysis: Adams was a reliable playmaker at Arkansas who also did damage as a return specialist. He needs to polish his game, but he has the skills to develop into a No. 2 receiver at the next level and possesses Pro Bowl return ability.
