Jermaine Kearse

School: Washington
Position: WR
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors as a junior. Senior totals included 47 receptions/699 yards/7 TDs after he posted career-best totals of 63/1005/12 the prior year. Sophomore numbers included 50/866/50.
Positive: Talented receiver coming off a disappointing senior campaign. Smooth, fluid receiver who plays with good body control. Displays quickness running routes, comes back to the ball exiting breaks and nicely adjusts to make the reception in stride. Extends his hands offering the quarterback a target, makes the reception away from his frame and plays with good balance. Uses his frame to protect the pass, quickly transitions from making the catch to running after the reception and shows strength handling the ball in the open field. Nicely makes the deep, over-the-shoulder reception downfield. Gives effort blocking and gets results.
Negative: Seemed to struggled with the quarterback change at Washington last season and uncharacteristically dropped a number of passes. Lost focus and did not play with a sense of urgency. Presented himself as a one speed receiver.
Analysis: After two productive seasons at Washington, Kearse was highly rated coming into the 2011 campaign yet watched his game take a step back as a senior. He possesses the size, speed and previously showed skill to be a third wideout on an NFL roster. Kearse performed well during his pro-day workout and must quickly get his game back on track to have any chance of a long career in the NFL.
