James Rodgers

School: Oregon State
Position: WR
Bio: Full-time starter the past three seasons after seeing action with the first team as a freshman. Totals last season included 45 receptions/514 yards/3 TDs. Suffered a significant knee injury four games into the 2010 season and missed most of the year. Posted career-best receiving numbers of 91/1034/9 as a junior in 2009 and added 303 yards rushing with another score. Sophomore receiving totals included 51/607/4 with another 408 yards on the ground and five additional touchdowns. All-conference kick returner in 2008 as a freshman after averaging 24.8 yards on 33 kick returns with one score.
Positive: Small yet explosive and quick skill player with the ability to create his own yardage. Solid pass catcher who comes back to the ball or into the clearing to make himself an available target. Extends his hands, displays good focus and makes the reception away from his frame. Gets up in triple coverage, keeps his eyes on the ball and comes away with the catch. Tough, keeps the play in bounds running after the reception and works to pick up positive yardage. Displays terrific quickness. Picks up blocking assignments and works them hard.
Negative: Seems to have lost a half step of speed last season coming off the knee injury. Small and does not have a true position at the next level.
Analysis: Rodgers was a terrific college player who did a great job rebounding from the devastating knee injury of 2010. He's a situational prospect at the next level who will be used in the slot, in the backfield or as a kick returner.
