Positive: Large blocking tight end who is also effective as a pass catcher in the short field. Stays square, keeps the defender in front of him and works blocks. Bends his knees, gets leverage on opponents and explosive at the point of attack. Turns defenders from the action and seals them from plays. Sells pass routes, settles into the open spot of the defense and offers the quarterback a big target. Consistent hand catcher. Displays good focus and gives effort in all aspects of the game.
Negative: Lacks a quick release off the line of scrimmage into routes. One-speed tight end who cannot get downfield. Possesses a thin build.
Analysis: Veldman is a limited athlete but a well-rounded prospect who could eventually develop into a third tight end at the next level.
