Joe Martinek

School: Rutgers
Position: RB
Bio: Senior totals included 24 attempts/123 yards on the ground with 27 receptions/262 yards/1 TDs as a receiver. Started at running back the prior two seasons, totaling 276 rushing yards and four touchdowns as a junior and 206/967/9 as a sophomore.
Positive: Productive college ballcarrier who offers a variety of skills. Runs low to the ground, displays the ability to get through the cutback lanes and makes defenders miss in a small area. Displays good vision, catches the ball well out of the backfield and easily adjusts to grab the errant pass from the air. Shows terrific skills as a pass catcher. Picks up stunts or blitzes thrown by the defense, squares into opponents and is a solid position blocker.
Negative: Not a or strong ballcarrier or bruising lead blocker. Marginal playing speed.
Analysis: Martinek was moderately productive in a variety of ways on the college level. The ability to carry the ball, catch it out of the backfield and be used as a blocker could help catch on as a fourth back in the NFL.
