Jermaine Thomas

School: Florida State
Position: RB
Bio: Broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore and posted 163 attempts/832 yards/9 TDs on the ground while adding 17 receptions/129 yards/1 TD as a receiver. Junior totals included 490 yards rushing with six scores before his season ended with a knee injury. Sophomore totals included 61/279/1 on the ground with nine receptions.
Positive: Slightly underrated ballcarrier who does a terrific job creating his own yardage. Displays outstanding field vision, follows blocks everywhere on the field and weaves through the traffic to keep plays alive. Finds the running lanes, makes defenders miss and is fast enough to beat them into the open field. Quick-footed and runs with good balance and body control. Easily changes direction without losing momentum. Fluid cutback runner who can also turn the corner.
Negative: Lacks true breakaway speed. Not a strong ballcarrier who breaks tackles. Marginally productive as a receiver out of the backfield.
Analysis: After his sophomore season of 2009, Thomas looked as though he would be the next top situational running back to come from the Florida State program. Injuries set his progress back, but he is still a legitimate ballcarrier for the next level with the ability to line up as a third-down back/situational runner.
