Doug Martin

School: Boise State
Position: RB
Bio: Two-year starter at after spending his sophomore season on the defensive side of ball. All-conference selection last season after posting career-best rushing totals of 263 attempts/1299 yards/16 TDs and adding 28 receptions/255 yards/2 TDs. Also averaged 33.8 yards on 10 kick returns with one score. Junior rushing totals included 201/1260/12 with 28/338/2 catching the ball.
Positive: Polished running back prospect with a complete game. Displays terrific vision, finds the cutback lanes and quickly gets through the open hole. Shows a burst of speed, follows blocks everywhere and picks his spots on the inside. Quick-footed, displays the ability to make defenders miss and can throw double moves over the course of a single run. Keeps his feet moving on contact and works runs hard. Solid pass catcher out of the backfield who easily adjusts to the errant throw, extends his hands and makes the reception away from his frame. Quickly transitions from making the catch to running after the reception. Displays outstanding blocking vision, picks up blitzes and squares into defenders, keeping them away from the quarterback. Shows the ability to impact the game returning kicks.
Negative: More of a one-speed ballcarrier who can not beat opponents to daylight. Lacks the speed to turn the corner.
Analysis: Martin is an instinctive player with a well-rounded game and a ball handler that beats opponents in a variety of ways. He does the little things well, which will help him get drafted much earlier than most expect and Martin should see significant playing action as a rookie in the NFL.
