Gerald Gooden

School: Purdue
Position: OLB
Bio: Three-year starter who totaled 37 tackles/9 tackles for loss/3 sacks and two interceptions as a senior. Junior numbers included 25/4/1.5.
Positive: Underrated outside linebacker with the ability to make plays in every direction of the field. Fluid moving on his feet, breaks down well and displays the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack. Loses little momentum changing direction, quickly adjusts off the initial block and effectively makes plays in space. Displays skill standing up over tackle or lining up in a three-point stance.
Negative: Marginally productive. Possesses just average speed. Lacks top pass rushing skill for a small, quick college defensive end.
Analysis: Gooden was a solid football player at Purdue and has the ability to be used as a 34 outside linebacker if he continues to progress and elevate his game.
