Corey Paredes

School: Hawaii
Position: OLB
Bio: Two-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his junior season. Led Hawaii in tackles the past two seasons, totaling 107 tackles/6.5 tackles for loss/.5 sacks as a senior after posting a career-best 151 tackles prior year.
Positive: Undersized yet tough defender with a good head for the ball. Breaks down well, flows to the action and keeps the play in front of him. Relatively quick getting out to the flanks in pursuit, remains disciplined with assignments and squares into tackles. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself and takes proper angles to the action.
Negative: Not a strong or sturdy linebacker. Minimal closing burst to the action. Easily disrupted from his angle of attack by the first block.
Analysis: Paredes is a hardworking linebacker with football smarts but comes with limited size and athleticism. He could be a backup middle linebacker or even line up at fullback if he stands out on special teams a summer.
