Derek Wolfe

School: Cincinnati
Position: DT
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors the past two seasons and named Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. Senior totals included 70 tackles/21.5 tackles for loss/9.5 sacks after 48/6.5/4 as a junior.
Positive: Hard-nosed, slug-it-out defender who makes a lot of plays on the ball. Explosive, fires through the gaps up the field and displays the ability to defeat blocks on his way to the ballcarrier. Powerful in his lower body, bulrushes opponents off the line and knocks blockers from the point. Consistently doubled teamed in the middle of the field yet holds his ground. Intense, keeps his feet driving up the field and effectively uses his hands to protect himself.
Negative: Lacks lateral speed and does not makes plays in pursuit. Possesses just an average closing burst.
Analysis: Wolfe is a strong lineman with solid size and growth potential. He was a power house in the middle of the Cincinnati line and will only improve as he physically matures.
