Greg McCoy

School: TCU
Position: CB
Bio: Two-year starter named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year in 2011. Defensive totals last season included 30 tackles/2 interceptions/7 pass breakups, when he averaged 30.6 yards on 37 kick returns, bringing two back for scores. Junior totals included 32/2/6 on defense with an average of 33.4 yards on five kick returns.
Positive: Smallish cornerback who impacts games returning kicks. Displays good awareness on the field, shows solid route recognition and has a burst of closing speed to the play. Fluid transitioning off the line with opponents, effectively reads receivers' eyes and locates the pass in the air. Voluntarily defends the run and is a hard hitter. Terrific special teams player who sets up returns, finds the open lanes and quickly gets through them.
Negative: Lacks great top-end speed. Does not quickly break to the throw out of his plant. Outmatched by larger receivers.
Analysis: McCoy is a special teams prospect who can be used in certain dime packages at the next level.
