Julius Thomas

School: Portland State
Position: TE
Bio: All-Conference selection as a senior, totaling 29/453/2. Four-year letter winner in basketball before walking onto the football team in 2010.
Positive: Developing tight end prospect with a great amount of upside potential. Quickly releases off the line, immediately gets to top speed and shows a burst getting into the secondary. Occasionally lined up in the slot or out on the flanks. Fluid changing direction, extends his hands, and nicely adjusts to the errant throw. Displayed improved hands throughout the season. Gives effort running routes and shows sharpness in his breaks. Blocks with solid fundamentals, bending his knees and getting leverage.
Negative: Lacks functional football strength and struggles to get movement run blocking or controlling defenders at the point of attack. Very raw in all aspects.
Analysis: Thomas played just one year of high school football before returning to the field for a successful campaign in 2010. He's a terrific athlete but a developmental player who's worth the time and effort. Thomas would be best as a move tight end that puts him in motion before leaving the line of scrimmage.
