Jonathan Massey

School: Southern Mississippi
Position: TE
Bio: Part-time starter the past two seasons totaling 5/50/1 as a senior after junior totals of 7/62/2.
Positive: Short, wide bodied, tight end most effective blocking. Bends his knees, breaks down well and stays square. Seals defenders from the action or easily rides them from their angle of attack. Possesses a thick build. Gives effort blocking and attacks assignments. Fluid releasing off the line into pass routes, displays the ability to easily defeat jams and possesses good eye/hand coordination.
Negative: Lacks a burst in his game. Rarely used as an offensive weapon. Only effective a few yards off the line of scrimmage as a receiver.
Analysis: Massey lacks the size/speed numbers to be anything other than a blocking tight end at the next level. That said he has the skills to be effective in that capacity as a third tight end on a roster.
