Greg Smith

School: Texas
Position: TE
Bio: Former center who has been a part-time starter the past three-years. Senior totals included 9/60 after he had 6/48 the prior year.
Positive: Big tight end who is best as a blocker. Blocks with terrific fundamentals, strong at the point, and works hard. Stays square, keeps defenders in front of him, and turns opponents off the line as a run blocker. Bends his knees, keeps his feet moving, and is solid in pass protection. Has adequate hands as a receiver. Tough and will play through pain.
Negative: Marginal speed and not effective as a receiver more than a few yards from the line of scrimmage. Must do a better job coming back to the ball rather than waiting for it to come to him.
Analysis: Smith is one of the better blocking tight ends in this draft and could be carried as a on a roster as the third man on the depth chart.
