Soeren Wendland

School: Liberty
Position: T
Bio: Former defensive lineman who moved to offensive tackle as a junior and became a full-time starter as a senior, earning all-Conference honors.
Positive: Large, athletic blocker who has shown great improvement in the past two seasons. Patient in pass protection, stays square, and easily rides defenders from their angle of attack. Quickly sets up off the snap and makes good use of angles and body positioning. Keeps his head on a swivel, large enough to engulf defenders, and very strong at the point. Blocks with a nasty attitude and plays with a good awareness.
Negative: Lacks footwork sliding out off the edge and not light on his feet. Tends to gather into blocks and does not correctly place his hands into defenders. Ducks his head and loses balance.
Analysis: The German-born Wendland has done a terrific job the past season and a half since moving to the offensive line. He offers NFL size and is a prospect who should only get better with experience. Definitely worth a look on the practice squad this fall.
