Byron Bell

School: New Mexico
Position: T
Bio: Three-year starter at left tackle for New Mexico. Played in one game as a freshman before going down with a season-ending injury.
Positive: Big but undeveloped offensive tackle prospect with a lot of upside. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage, and displays solid movement skills. Quick out to the second level, can adjust to linebackers, and seals them from the action. Displays violent hand punch and knocks rushers from their angle of attack. Keeps his feet moving, displays the ability to slide in pass protection, and works well with teammates. Controls defenders once engaged at the point of attack.
Negative: Must develop a nasty streak and work harder to finish blocks. Displays average awareness and falls asleep at times. Must learn to make better use of blocking angles. Bends at the waist and looks poorly conditioned.
Analysis: Bell is a large athletic tackle prospect who is still very raw. He can be useful down the road if given the time to properly develop his skills on a practice squad.
