Jason Pinkston
School: Pittsburgh
Position: T
Bio: Three-year starter at left tackle awarded all-Conference honors the past two years.
Positive: Solid pass protector who blocks with solid fundamentals. Bends his knees, plays with good pad level, and keeps his feet moving. Gets leverage on opponents, quick with his hands, and effectively uses them throughout the action. Immediately gets off the snap into blocks, is resilient, and stays with the action. Stays square and effectively uses body positioning to seal defenders from the action. Flashes ability in motion, getting out to the second level and removing linebackers.
Negative: Overextends into blocks, which adversely affects his balance. Lacks dominant strength and really does not get much movement at the point of attack. Struggles against power edge rushers.
Analysis: Pinkston has been a productive blind side protector for Pittsburgh since his sophomore season and has enough skill to play the left tackle position in the NFL. He may move into guard based on his size, but he offers the ability to play in a conventional offense or in a zone blocking system.

Curt Porter
School: Jacksonville State
Position: T
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-Conference and All-American honors as a senior. Played both tackle spots at Jacksonville State.
Positive: Tall, heavy-footed offensive tackle who is best in a small area. Bends his knees, blocks with a wide base, and is large enough to turn defenders off the ball. Gets after blocks, actively uses his hands, and keeps his feet moving. Stays square and effectively uses his frame to shield defenders from the action. Does a good job blocking with leverage for such a large man.
Negative: Lacks footwork sliding out off the edge. Struggles to adjust and exploited by speed rushers. Stiff and ineffective in motion.
Analysis: Porter is a size prospect who did well on the small school level but offers limited upside for the next level.

Jah Reid
School: UCF
Position: T
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-Conference honors the past two years.
Positive: King-sized blocker with a lot of potential on the right side. Strong, can be devastating at the point of attack, and gets a lot of movement run blocking. Easily pushes defenders from their angle of attack in pass protection, blocks with good lean, and holds the point. Stays square, seals defenders from the action, and makes tremendous use of body positioning. Blocks with a nasty attitude and works hard to finish off defenders.
Negative: Must improve his blocking balance. Lacks footwork in pass protection. Struggles to adjust and exploited by quick, explosive opponents.
Analysis: Reid has the body type and skill to hold down a right tackle position in the NFL. He is a solid developmental prospect who will only get better as he becomes accustomed to the speed at the next level.

Derek Sherrod
School: Mississippi State
Position: T
Bio: Three-year starter at left tackle awarded all-Conference honors as a senior.
Positive: Athletic blind side tackle with a lot of upside. Plays with good lean, keeps his hands active throughout the action, and stays square. Better than average quickness off the edge, can slide his feet, and is a terrific position blocker who seals defenders from the play. Fluid moving around the field, quick out to the second level, and redirects to linebackers, taking them from the action. Blocks with good knee bend and pad level.
Negative: Possesses average strength at the point of attack and struggles to finish off opponents. Much better pass protector than run blocker.
Analysis: Sherrod has been a consistent player at Mississippi State and possesses all the skills necessary to develop into a left tackle at the next level. He'll need time to physically mature and add strength to his frame, but he is one of the better blind side tackle prospects in this draft.

Positive: Big tackle prospect who uses all of his assets well. Strong at the point, stays square, and controls opponents once engaged in a block. Plays with a nasty attitude, keeps his feet moving on contact, and works hard until the whistle blows. Resilient, keeps his head on a swivel, and works well with teammates. Very effective with his hands, quickly getting them up into opponents and correctly placing them.
Negative: Lacks classic footwork off the edge in pass protection. Struggles redirecting to blitzers or linebackers on the second level.
Analysis: Smith is a bit of an unknown in this year's draft after sitting on the sidelines during the 2010 campaign. He displayed a lot of skill before his injury and looked good at the East-West Shrine Game. Unlikely to be selected in any of the seven rounds, he's definitely worth considering for a practice squad.

Negative: Shows stiffness . Reacts late to defenders E(TM) moves off the line.
Analysis: Since bursting on the scene as a sophomore, Smith has been one of the premier offensive tackle prospects in the nation. He has a terrific combination of size, growth potential and athleticism. Smith comes with a good degree of upside and though he needs a bit more development, he should be starting for an NFL team by the end of his rookie season.

Negative: Gets marginal movement run blocking and at times struggles turning lesser opponents from the action. Really does not play with a nasty attitude.
Analysis: Solder improved the past two seasons after moving from tight end to offensive tackle. He possesses the athleticism to be used on the blind side and offers the size and growth potential to eventually be starting at right tackle in the NFL. He comes with great upside but will need time to develop his game before he'll be ready to break into a starting lineup on the NFL level.

Makes good use of angles, easily adjusts, and anchors at the point of attack. Keeps his feet moving, stays square, and controls defenders once engaged in a block. Consistently plays with leverage, keeps his head on a swivel, and works until the whistle blows.
Negative: Must improve his blocking balance. Ducks his head and bends at the waist. Does not always correctly places hands into defenders. Must improve his run blocking.

Negative: Rumbles around the field and shows no skill blocking in motion. Really is at his best in a small area.
