Positive: Hard-working defender who plays with an aggressive attitude. Instinctive, keeps his head on a swivel, and remains disciplined with assignments. Plays heads-up football with great effort. Breaks down well, displays a burst to the action, and gives effort in every aspect of the game. Sacrifices his body to make the tackle and sells out on the blitz. Solid sideline-to-sideline range.
Negative: Undersized, physically beaten by opponents, and not a strong tackler. Lack of height limits him in coverage.
Analysis: Holmes has been very productive at Syracuse yet possesses poor size for the next level. He has the mentality and skills to catch on as a ninth defensive back if he continues solid play on special teams.
